Candidates for the baccalaureate in Bongolava and Antananarivo are set to appear before the Disciplinary Council (Codis) of the University of Antananarivo. “We are already encouraging the thirty-one individuals who will have to appear before the disciplinary council,” stated Professor Rivoarison Randrianasolo, President of the University of Antananarivo, during the official announcement of the baccalaureate results on Saturday. These summons are linked to infractions observed during the exams, such as the use of mobile phones and attempted fraud using unauthorized materials like notebooks, as cited by the Office of the Baccalaureate.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has taken a firm stance this year, banning mobile phones, smartwatches, and unauthorized study materials within exam centers for both candidates and invigilators. Despite these measures, some examiners reported identifying copies with identical answers. Penalties for fraud range from a one-to-five-year ban on taking the exam to imprisonment and immediate expulsion. In Tsiroanomandidy, a substitute candidate has already been imprisoned. The disciplinary hearings are expected to take place towards the end of September to restore the credibility of the examination process.
