Long traffic jams formed yesterday at Mandraka on National Route 2. “We currently have about three kilometers of congestion on each side,” reported a traffic police officer specially deployed to manage the flow on-site. Traffic on the “Grande S” section was completely interrupted for several hours due to road repair work.
“This morning, the lane remained accessible to light vehicles. However, during the pouring of the asphalt, the road had to be completely closed to all traffic,” the source clarified.
This temporary closure caused frustration among users. “What are the instructions? We haven’t moved for 6 hours because of their organization… It’s really tough!” exclaimed one motorist. Others showed patience. “This section was a real black spot. Thank you for the repair work and the traffic regulation,” another responded.
Traffic is expected to be restored as soon as possible. “It will reopen as soon as the asphalt has dried, according to information provided by the company,” a traffic official indicated.
Some users are pessimistic about the durability of the materials used. “This is not the first time this section has been rehabilitated. The bitumen coating degrades very quickly under the constant passage of heavy goods vehicles,” road users lamented. According to them, the company should have opted for concrete, which is considered more resistant to the weight of heavy trucks.
