A massive fire broke out on Friday, September 4, in Soamanandrariny, Sector III, at a sawmill located opposite the General Education College (CEG). The incident, which occurred around 12:30 AM, completely destroyed the wood processing workshop as well as neighboring houses. Two vehicles were also consumed by the flames. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Firefighters intervened with four fire trucks, supported by local residents and law enforcement led by the local station chief. After more than two hours of effort, the fire was brought under control around 2:30 AM.
In a statement, emergency services indicated that this intervention was part of a series of incidents recorded on the same day in the capital: thirteen houses burned in Andranomanalina, a car destroyed in Ambondrona, and the sawmill in Soamanandrariny, which was particularly difficult to extinguish due to the large quantity of highly flammable wood. The gendarmes are continuing their investigations to determine the exact origin of the fire.
