TRANSPORT – A thousand illegal bajajs operating in Mahajanga

In Mahajanga, the municipality is preparing to sanction motorcycle taxi (TMT) operators who have failed to renew their operating licenses. The deadline for regularization, set for the end of May, has been exceeded by several months.

“There are 2,400 tricycles that are in compliance and have renewed their licenses this year. These bajajs received their new stickers a few months ago. November is already approaching, and the deadline passed at the end of May. The municipality will take the necessary measures against those who are non-compliant. We urge them to regularize their status quickly,” stated Maeva Portos, Director of Urban Transport for the Mahajanga municipality.

Out of the 3,250 bajajs registered with the municipality, more than 800 are operating illegally in the city. These vehicles operate without authorization and without paying the corresponding taxes.
