Madagascan urban dance has made its mark in Mauritius. Zoanyh, nicknamed Zou, a professional dancer and member of the Litefeet Madagascar collective, secured second place in the Red Bull Dance Your Style Mauritius 2026 final, held last Saturday. After a hard-fought final battle, she narrowly missed the trophy after successfully navigating the various stages of the competition.
In her debut participation, the dancer managed to reach the final among all competitors. A few days before the event, she explained that she had to cope with an illness that struck four days prior to the competition. Despite this challenge, she stated that she chose to “fight until the end.”
This second-place finish is a source of great satisfaction for Zoanyh. “Reaching this 2nd place, just a hair’s breadth from the trophy, is an immense pride,” she shared in a message posted after the competition. However, she views this result as a stepping stone in her career, with a desire to continue developing dance both in Madagascar and internationally.
Red Bull Dance Your Style features a unique format: there is no official jury to judge the dancers. The winners of each battle are determined directly by the audience using voting cards. The competition thus forces participants to engage with spectator reactions throughout the confrontations.
With this second-place finish, Zoanyh has made a notable impression in her first participation in Red Bull Dance Your Style Mauritius. It is an experience she intends to build upon in her artistic journey, with a clear commitment to continue progressing and taking Malagasy dance to other stages.
