GOVERNMENT – Ministers under evaluation

The Head of State, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, and Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison are progressively strengthening the monitoring of ministerial activities to accelerate the execution of government directives and development programs. The Prime Minister intends to be increasingly firm on this matter, having already announced that “no inaction regarding delays in the execution of tasks assigned to government members will be tolerated from now on.”

For his part, the President of the Republic has called for the reporting of any failure in responsibilities or acts of corruption involving a member of the government. “Report to me if a member of the government does not take their responsibilities and engages in corruption. We will not tolerate this, as it harms the efforts being deployed in this country,” he declared during his speech in Antsohihy, before the numerous authorities present at the celebration of the 68th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.

While the Head of State has not yet explicitly announced a potential cabinet reshuffle, he has warned that he will show no leniency toward those who deliberately violate his directives.

Prime Minister Rajaonarison Mamitiana intends to accelerate the completion of urgent projects related to development and the well-being of the population. During a special meeting with all ministry secretaries-general, he insisted on the need to quickly assume responsibilities related to the use of public funds, particularly for the realization of priority infrastructure.

Projects involved include the construction of roads and the installation of solar energy production centers. The government is also planning measures to control the prices of common consumer goods, particularly rice. To this end, the state-owned company State Procurement of Madagascar could directly purchase paddy from farmers to influence the market.
