A violent accident occurred on Sunday, September 6, around 2:15 PM on the Ankerana bypass, near the Shell Ankadindramamy station.
A black Kymco GP motorcycle taxi, carrying a passenger, rear-ended a garbage truck belonging to the Municipal Sanitation Company (SMA) that was parked on the side of the road. The 33-year-old driver of the two-wheeler suffered a serious head injury and was transported unconscious to the Soavinandriana Hospital Center (CENHSOA), while his passenger, who was headed to Andohatapenaka, sustained minor injuries, according to police. The 26-year-old truck driver was unhurt. The Accident Brigade has opened an investigation.
“I heard a loud noise and saw the motorcycle crash into the back of the truck. It all happened very quickly. The people present were in shock,” said a local resident at the scene.
“The motorcycle taxi driver seemed unconscious. Passersby rushed to help him before the police arrived. It was both impressive and worrying,” testified a shopkeeper located near the bypass.
