ANTANANARIVO – Road closures on several sections

Several road sections in Antananarivo will be closed until January 16 due to sanitation works. Detours have been arranged.

New traffic restrictions are coming into effect in Antananarivo this November. The Urban Commune of Antananarivo (CUA) has announced the closure of a section of Independence Avenue in Analakely, from the “Honey” store to “Air Madagascar,” starting today until January 16.

The statement also provides for the total closure of Andriamasinavalona Street in Analakely, from the “Tia” store to the exit towards “Air Madagascar,” as well as Radama Street in front of “Tana Confort,” from November 26 to January 16.

The road connecting the Ministry of Public Health in Befelatanana, near the basin, to Fort Voyron will also be closed nightly from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, starting today until January 16. “The Befelatanana–Fort Voyron road remains open during the day,” a source from the CUA clarified.

These closures are necessary for the replacement of underground pipes as part of Phase II of the Integrated Sanitation Project of Antananarivo (PIAA). Several detours have been put in place.

Vehicles coming from Analakely and heading towards Behoririka must turn at “Miso Life,” then emerge near the “Super U” store in Analakely before resuming their usual route. Those coming from the central police station in Tsaralalana heading towards Behoririka must take Independence Avenue in front of the Saint-Paul bookstore, then turn at “Miso Life” and exit near “Super U.” Finally, vehicles coming from Mahamasina heading to Fort Voyron must go up through Ankadilalana, pass through Fiadanana, and then resume their usual route.
