Andi Rajoelison and Alexia Rakotomalala finished third in the senior and junior finals of the Karting Africa Trophy, held on October 9 in Lubango, Angola. Matthew Andriambelo took fourth place in the senior category.

Two podiums and a fourth place. The three Malagasy representatives achieved encouraging results at the Karting Africa Trophy on the 0.9 km Lubango circuit. In the senior category, Andi Rajoelison secured third place after a duel with his compatriot Matthew Andriambelo, who was overtaken on the final lap.

Andi Rajoelison completed the final in 17:37.935, 5.543 seconds behind the South African winner, Jordan Klassen, who clocked 17:32.392. The Malagasy driver set his best lap at 49.720 seconds.

Matthew Andriambelo crossed the line in 17:38.011, just 76 milliseconds behind his compatriot and 5.619 seconds behind the winner. Finishing fourth, he just missed the podium. His best lap was achieved on the sixth pass, in 49.751 seconds.

In the junior category, Alexia Rakotomalala also secured third place. She completed the twenty laps of the final in 17:26.229, 16.401 seconds behind the winner, Santiago Frade, who won in 17:09.828. Beyond the rankings, the three drivers took away valuable lessons from this experience in Angola. “The race was very intense, the opponents were very good, I had a lot of fun, and it was a big step for my career in this sport. I learned how to drive on a track with little grip and I improved my driving,” said Matthew Andriambelo.

“I found the race exciting, I gained a lot of experience during this race,” explained Andi Rajoelison. Alexia Rakotomalala shared this satisfaction: “The race was fun. I liked driving with people of different levels, I am proud of my results and I have improved my driving a lot.”

With two podium spots and a fourth-place finish, the three Malagasy representatives leave Lubango with results and experience they hope to leverage for the rest of their careers.
