ANTSOHIHY – The Head of State affirms his support for the national consultation

During a visit to Antsohihy to mark the anniversary of the Republic, the Head of State, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, affirmed his support for the national consultation process led by the Malagasy Council of Christian Churches (FFKM). He explicitly ruled out the possibility of a political dialogue, dismissing it as a mere attempt to distribute power and seats.

The President emphasized that the country is facing a social crisis rather than a political one, and therefore, no political dialogue is necessary. He expressed confidence in the progress of the FFKM’s grassroots consultation process, which is currently in the training phase for local facilitators, with nationwide sessions expected to begin in November.

While the FFKM aims to complete the national consultation by the end of 2026 to pave the way for electoral preparations in 2027, the President remains committed to the 2027 election timeline. Despite rumors of a potential government reshuffle, the President’s recent statements suggest that political maneuvering for power-sharing will not be entertained, as he focuses on the broader goal of national refoundation.
