Two international outings are in the works. While the Barea U20 team was excluded from the Cosafa U20 Cup, scheduled to take place in Mauritius from September 18 to 27, two other categories are planning to participate in upcoming international competitions.
The U15 players selected under the FIFA ‘Talent Development Scheme,’ who will join the Carion National Academy in mid-September, will be reinforced by other local and expatriate players. They will soon begin preparations for their participation in the first edition of the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival. This global 8-a-side football competition for boys under 15 will take place from October 22 to 31 in Azerbaijan.
The Barea U17 team also intends to participate in the Cosafa Cup for their age category, with the date and host country of the zonal tournament yet to be confirmed. The first phase of the U17 national championship, which serves as a talent scouting and initial selection process, is currently underway.
Absent from 2019 to 2024, Madagascar missed its return to this regional summit last year. The Malagasy selection, featuring four expatriate players, was eliminated in the group stage after three heavy defeats against South Africa (1-5), the 2025 tournament winner, Malawi (1-3), and Zambia (1-5). These zonal competitions serve as qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations in their respective categories.
