The death toll continues to rise following the accident that occurred in the Ambohidahy tunnel on September 8. A 32-year-old mother succumbed to her injuries on Friday night. She is the sixth victim to die among the nine people struck by the taxi-be (public minibus) that Wednesday afternoon.
Hospitalized since the day of the accident, she was treated in the surgical intensive care unit. According to a medical source, she suffered from polytrauma, including internal injuries, fractures, and a head injury.
“She was among the most seriously injured victims,” our source confided. According to them, the victim “had undergone two successive surgical operations.” However, “despite the care and several days spent in intensive care, her condition was such that she could not be saved.” “She passed away on Friday, around midnight,” our contact continued.
The body was transferred to the morgue on Saturday around 4 a.m., before being collected by her family around 6 a.m. The remains were then taken to 67 Ha, where she resided.
Of the nine people struck by the taxi-be, three have already been able to return home. “These three people are no longer hospitalized. They simply need to return to the hospital for their check-ups,” our source specified.
Two people died on the day of the accident after being admitted to the hospital. Deaths subsequently followed among the seriously injured victims, now bringing the death toll to six. The taxi-be driver was placed in preventive detention at Antanimora on September 14.
