Electricity supply in the city of Toamasina is expected to return to normal soon. Filatex Energy has strengthened its production, now boasting a 24 MW HFO production capacity available to Jirama in this port city. A 4 MW production unit, recently serviced, is back in operation.
In parallel, the power plant has received a 6 MW Wärtsilä brand HFO engine to increase energy output. “We will continue to communicate regularly on the progress of our work and our production capacities. Filatex Energy teams remain mobilized day and night to support Jirama in stabilizing the network and contributing to the sustainable recovery of the energy sector,” stated Tahina Ramaromandray, Director of Public Relations for Groupe Filatex, in a press release on July 9.
The priority remains to ensure the continuity of power supply to essential infrastructure, particularly healthcare facilities such as the Morafeno Hospital and the Be Analakininina Hospital.
Beyond these immediate actions, Filatex Energy continues its commitment to the sustainable recovery of the energy sector in Madagascar. The company is studying the possibility of launching the second phase of its solar program this year to sustainably support the country’s energy transition.
