Dance as a living memory and a medium to imagine the future: the third edition of Temps Fort Danse returns with a program centered on transmission and intergenerational dialogue. From August 22 to September 12, performances, workshops, round-table discussions, and film screenings will take place at the Institut français de Madagascar (IFM).
For the opening this Saturday, Boutiana Didier and the Soul City company from Reunion Island will present “OG Mécanique” and “Tsy Ferana.” The Malagasy scene will also be represented by “Marolafy,” presented by Falihery and his students aged 16 to 20, “Tanindrazana” by the Rija Jarils Company, a presentation by Rodo, and new creations from the Dihy project.
The theme of transmission will continue through workshops in contemporary dance, hip-hop, krump, house, popping, locking, and breaking, as well as sessions for children, parent-child groups, and seniors. These workshops are free and open to all, fostering exchanges between generations. Notably, Julie Iarisoa will lead a workshop on September 1.
The festival will also address the physical and mental health of artists with the round-table discussion “Taking care of the artist – Creating today, lasting tomorrow,” bringing together health professionals and Ariry Andriamoratsiresy. On the cinema side, Wim Wenders’ “Pina,” along with an afternoon featuring “Happy Feet,” “Pulp Fiction,” and “Climax,” will round out the program.
