A few days after the announcement of the ban on non-compliant vehicle lighting, some vendors continue to display these products in the market. However, they state that they will comply with the regulations and explain that customers have become scarce since the authorities’ announcement.
Traders believe that this ban should have been enforced before the products were imported. “The ban should have been applied before these products were imported, at the Customs level,” says a vendor who requested anonymity. According to him, once the equipment is introduced into the market, it becomes more difficult to prevent its commercialization.
Despite these reservations, the vendors assure that they will comply with the authorities’ instructions. “If the authorities tell us not to sell them anymore, we will stop. And if customers no longer buy them, we will no longer offer them,” a merchant confided.
In garages, requests for the removal of non-compliant lighting remain limited. The professionals interviewed indicated that they had not received any vehicles on the day of the observation. Only two to three motorcycles reportedly showed up the day before to have their lights removed, while some users chose to remove them themselves.
