CONCERT – Johary and Poopy like in the good old days

Poopy, Johary, and Njila will unite their musical worlds through a repertoire blending memories, duets, and new interpretations.

More than thirty years of musical camaraderie will be brought together on a single stage. This Sunday, the CCI Ivato amphitheater will host “Kanto Mifameno,” a grand show featuring Poopy, the group Johary, and guest artist Njila. Conceived as a meeting between several artists, the concert will highlight the richness of their repertoires and the songs that have marked their shared history.

For nearly four hours, the audience will be able to hear songs by Poopy and Johary, as well as their cross-interpretations. Some of Poopy’s songs will be covered by Johary, while Poopy will perform tracks by Johary. Songs will also be performed together. The repertoire is expected to include nearly forty tracks, with a special place given to songs from their past collaborations, notably those from the album “Andao Andihy,” Poopy’s very first solo studio album released in 1991, which testifies to an important period of their shared journey.

The uniqueness of the show will also lie in the musical accompaniment. The technical and logistical aspects will be handled by NYR Image, while Live Prod is involved in the organization. The groups will retain their own musicians: Poopy’s tracks will be accompanied by her musicians, while Johary’s will be by the members of his group. When an artist performs the other’s repertoire, the respective musicians will also accompany them. On stage, the audience will notably find the accordion, brass, electro-acoustic guitar, and nearly seven voices, within the acoustic conditions of the CCI Ivato.

Through “Kanto Mifameno,” the artists also defend an open vision of music: generations should not separate music lovers, as music can be shared by all.
