The jiu-jitsu practitioners from the Great Island continue to impress on the continental stage. The Malagasy national anthem, “Ry Tanindrazanay Malala,” resonated at the Open Africa tournament held this Saturday and Sunday in Mauritius. Competing in both Gi and No Gi categories, Madagascar secured a total of ten medals, including six gold and four silver.
Nomasintsoatina Raharijaona claimed two gold medals in the adult and master blue belt -82.10 kg category, along with two silver medals in No Gi. Among the children, Lucie Herinjaka Nirina won gold in the Kids 4 girls’ category (grey belt -54.4 kg) and another gold in the No Gi combat. Tiavina Stellah Johariniaina secured the gold medal in the Kids 6 category (white belt -45.40 kg). Additionally, Rina Wilson Razakarisoa took home the gold medal in No Gi yesterday, after finishing as a runner-up in the adult and master 30 purple belt -100.20 kg final. Willy concluded the competition with two silver medals.
