BACCALAUREATE 2026 – Mobile phones banned in examination halls

Candidates for the baccalaureate examination will not be allowed to enter examination centers with a mobile phone. These devices are strictly prohibited in examination halls. “Under no circumstances should phones be brought into the examination center. Any offender will face immediate sanctions,” declared the President of the University of Antananarivo, Professor Rivoarison Randrianasolo, yesterday during a press conference regarding preparations for the general baccalaureate exam, which will be held from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24, 2026.

This ban is primarily aimed at preventing fraud. During the 2024 session, some candidates were caught checking their phones during the exam. In their scheme, candidates took photos of the exam papers, sent the images to another person who would solve the questions, and then sent the answers back to the candidate. Consequently, the candidates’ phones were confiscated during the tests. These measures were applied across all examination centers on the Great Island.

Other measures include a strict prohibition on staying or eating in the examination halls. Furthermore, candidates are not permitted to carry their rough work papers around the examination center.

Professor Rivoarison Randrianasolo stated that no leniency will be granted to candidates who fail to respect the rules during the examinations.
