TENNIS – U12 – The next generation sets off to conquer Maputo

Hardly had the Madagascar U12 Championship concluded when the Malagasy rising stars turned their focus to a new international challenge. A delegation of six young players has flown to Maputo, Mozambique, to participate in the 2026 Southern Africa U12 Championship.

In the girls’ category, the selection relies on Faratiana Razafiarisoa, who was recently crowned 2026 Madagascar U12 champion after her victory in the final against runner-up Razakatiana Miadana. Fandjambolatiana Iharifidy Fenoherintsoa, last year’s U12 national champion, completes the girls’ team.

For the boys, Madagascar will be represented by Arinosy Hay Tsangy, Nathanaël Andrianarivony, and the youngest member of the delegation, 10-year-old Aiky Ravelontsalama Randrianasolo.

Led by their captain, Aina Rafolomanantsiatosika, the young Malagasy tennis players will have the opportunity to test their skills against the best prospects in the region. The stakes of this regional summit include qualification for the U12 Continental African Championship, with the possibility for the top performers to join the U12 Team Africa.

For Madagascar, this tournament marks a return to the Southern African stage after an absence during the 2025 edition. It is an important experience for this new generation, who are expected to progress through regional competition and continue the training work led by clubs and coaches.
