Aggravated robbery resulting in murder. Four suspects were presented to the public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Moramanga on Wednesday. They confessed to stabbing and subsequently shooting the wife of the head of the Ambohimandroso fokontany, located in the rural commune of Sabotsy Anjiro. They have been placed in pre-trial detention at the town’s central prison.
The incident occurred on the night of June 25th, around 9:00 PM, when fifteen unmasked individuals, armed with a homemade firearm, attacked two houses belonging to the same family. The victim died on the spot.
After killing the mother, the perpetrators stole a flat-screen television, three mobile phones, and a battery, according to a report on the events.
Alerted to the crime, the gendarmes, led by the deputy commander of the Moramanga company, intervened immediately and launched an investigation. Under interrogation, the four arrested men confessed to their involvement.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the remaining members of the group. The gendarmerie is urging anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward to assist in ending their evasion of justice.
