A domestic tragedy occurred in Belambanana, Andoharanofotsy, on Tuesday morning. A one-year-and-two-month-old baby girl lost her life after being electrocuted in the family home.
According to initial findings, the girl was playing near an electrical connection when the accident occurred. Her young aunt, who was responsible for looking after her, attempted to rescue the child but could not prevent the fatal outcome. The aunt also suffered an electric shock and is currently under medical observation at home.
Alerted by staff at the Level II Basic Health Center (CSB II) in Andoharanofotsy, the gendarmerie arrived at the scene to investigate. A doctor confirmed that the death was caused by electrocution, with no visible signs of injury on the body.
The family declined an autopsy, and the body was released to them following the examination. Local authorities are continuing their investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident, while the young aunt’s health remains under close monitoring.
