Sun King is strengthening its presence in Madagascar with the opening of a new store in Andramahavola Itaosy and the commissioning of solar equipment for the local brigade. This initiative aims to improve access to reliable energy in a context marked by electricity supply difficulties. The company plans to invest more than $5 million in the development of off-grid solar solutions. It aims to support more than 1.5 million new beneficiaries by 2030 and provide solar energy to nearly 7.5 million people in the coming years.
In a context where access to electricity remains a challenge for part of the population, Sun King is focusing on solutions adapted to the realities of Malagasy households. Its model is based in particular on a progressive payment system allowing users to acquire solar kits according to their financial capacity. In Itaosy, the commissioning of solar equipment at the brigade level provides concrete support to officers. The system is particularly useful during night interventions and allows activities to continue even during load shedding periods.
“This solar energy is very useful for the brigade, especially at night and during power cuts. It allows us to continue our work in better conditions,” says Botozaha Angelo Christian, head of the Itaosy brigade.
“Our goal is to enable Malagasy people to access reliable and affordable energy. We are not just offering products, but a solution that meets the needs of households deprived of electricity,” explains Avoniaina Rakotoarison, Marketing Manager of Sun King Madagascar.
With the opening of this new store in Andramahavola Itaosy, the company continues to expand its distribution network. Three new points of sale are planned before the end of the year, and seven more in 2027. Supported by the World Bank and a partnership with Yas Madagascar, Sun King intends to contribute to the country’s electrification through clean and accessible energy.
