Sixteen boulistes are currently competing at the Ankatso boulodrome for the final stage of the national selection. Four of them will represent Madagascar in Thailand.
The national technical directorate of the Malagasy Boules Sports Federation (FSBM) launched the second and final selection phase yesterday. This decisive three-day stage, ending Wednesday, brings together the sixteen best players from the thirty-five pre-selected candidates. They are vying for the four qualifying spots for the World Triplet and Precision Shooting Championships, scheduled for November 20-25 in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
The selection is highlighted by a high-stakes duel for the midfield position between two teammates who were finalists at the 2025 Masters: Faratiana Rakotoniaina, known as “Tiana Kely,” and Joseph Urbain Ramanantiaray, alias “Baloty.”
National Technical Director Juan Éric Rakotondralambo explained that players must complete four mandatory tests three times each, covering pointing, shooting, doubles, and singles, for a total of twelve scored events. The best players in each position—shooter, pointer, and midfielder—will be selected first, with the fourth spot going to the most versatile player.
Baloty currently leads the rankings with 57 points, followed by Tendry Fanjamanovofifaliana (52 points) and a group of players tied at 49 points, including Yves Sedrick Rakotoarisoa, Lova Satamandimby Rakotoarisoa, and Tiana Kely.
The final four-man roster will be announced on October 15th and submitted to the international federation by noon that same day.
