After disappearing in Anosibe and being found in Imerintsiatosika, a 14-year-old girl was finally identified by the police despite her initial incoherent explanations.
The police managed to identify the family of the teenager, whose disjointed answers had initially baffled investigators. On Thursday, the girl was found alone in Ankazondandy, Imerintsiatosika, before being taken to the police station.
She claimed to be from Imerintsiatosika, then from Ampitatafika. Police took her to the latter commune in the Atsimondrano district, but once there, she changed her story, claiming it was Ampitatafika in Antanifotsy, on the RN7. Faced with these inconsistencies, law enforcement decided to transfer her to the Morals and Minors Protection Police in Tsaralalàna.
During further questioning, she stated she had been abandoned by her aunt in Anosy. She eventually revealed her identity. Investigators confirmed she was the same teenager whose disappearance had been reported earlier that morning in Ivolaniray, Anosibe. She had left her home around 5:50 a.m. and had not returned, prompting her family to launch a search.
The police confirmation links the two reports and ends the uncertainty. However, the exact circumstances of her disappearance remain to be clarified, and investigators are now working to reconstruct the events.
Her case is not isolated. On the same day, two girls aged 3 and 11, reported missing since August 4, were found sleeping at the Andravoahangy market thanks to cooperation between the police and their families. According to their father, they had suffered abuse that drove them to flee their home in Ampandrana. They have been entrusted to the investigators in Tsaralalàna for care.
These serial disappearances, sometimes linked to runaways and sometimes to abductions, are worrying parents, especially as about a dozen victims have already been found dead.
