Three Japanese animated films were screened at Cinepax during a cultural festival. The event highlighted the richness of Japanese cinema to the Malagasy public.
Japanese cinema came to Cinepax from August 3rd to 5th through a festival dedicated to Japanese animation. Organized by the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation, in collaboration with the agency Profiler Madagascar, this cultural event allowed the public to discover several iconic Japanese productions.
Three animated films were featured during these three days: “Your Name” and “Weathering with You,” directed by Makoto Shinkai, as well as “Attack on Titan” by Shinji Higuchi. Each work had two screening sessions to allow viewers to follow the different programs offered.
The official opening of the festival took place on Monday, August 3rd, with the screening of “Your Name.” The ceremony was marked by the presence of the Ambassador of Japan, Hitoshi Tojima, who kicked off this event dedicated to Japanese cinema.
Through these screenings, the festival offered a discovery of Japanese culture to the general public. The works presented allowed attendees to appreciate different artistic expressions of Japan, through stories blending imaginary worlds and elements related to Japanese society.
The event concluded on Wednesday afternoon with the screening of “Attack on Titan.” On this occasion, the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation thanked their collaborators for their participation in organizing this cultural activity.
This initiative is part of the desire to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and Madagascar by fostering exchanges through cinema. The organizers also invite the public to follow the next cultural activities announced by the Embassy of Japan.
