Andraina Marcy Christo Ranaivo, a 21-year-old resident of Ampamarinana, was killed in Itaosy between Friday night and Saturday morning. According to reports, he was stabbed eight times in the back. The attackers stole the motorcycle he used for his livelihood but left his phone and money behind.
His mother, Gislaine Rahanirina, who lives in Mahajanga, recounted receiving a call around 3:00 AM on Saturday. An unidentified man asked her who the phone belonged to and where she was located. Concerned, she asked acquaintances in Antananarivo to search for her son, specifically at the morgue, where his body was eventually discovered.
The call was made from the victim’s own phone, which is now in police custody for investigation purposes. As an only child, Marcy Christo was described by his mother as a discreet young man with no known conflicts. He had left school and worked as a motorcycle taxi driver to support himself, often working at night to meet his daily rental payments for the vehicle.
“He was fighting to make ends meet. Every day he went to work without any issues. Then that call came on Saturday morning,” his mother lamented. Originally from Mahajanga, the young man had moved to Antananarivo to find work due to the higher demand for motorcycle transport services.
The family is demanding that the circumstances of his death be established and the perpetrators arrested. They have not yet filed a formal complaint, as their priority is to recover the body and organize the funeral in Mahajanga. They are urging law enforcement to quickly identify those responsible.
