The eight-day political consultations at Iavoloha have officially begun. The State Palace has kicked off national consultations aimed at preparing for the upcoming elections. On this first day, three platforms, including Firaisankina, were received by the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina.
The Firaisankina platform, which brings together several opposition political parties from the previous regime, was represented by its deputies and several leaders of member parties. Two other movements, the KFIM alliance (Committee for the Refoundation of Madagascar), which unites political parties allied with the Refoundation regime, as well as a group of women’s associations, were also received at Iavoloha.
The meetings, attended by representatives from the United Nations, the African Union, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni), focused primarily on election preparation. This provided an opportunity for the guests to submit proposals and approaches aimed at reforming the electoral framework.
The series of consultations is scheduled to continue until September 8. It follows the political dialogue process that Colonel Michaël Randrianirina had already initiated with an initial meeting with two former elected presidents, Marc Ravalomanana and Hery Rajaonarimampianina.
It is also being conducted in parallel with initiatives already undertaken by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni) and the national consultation organized by the Council of Christian Churches in Madagascar (FFKM). According to the presidency, the goal is to build a transparent and democratic electoral process whose results will be accepted by the entire nation.
