Directives issued. Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison requested the Anti-Kidnapping Operational Center of the Defense and Security Forces (CO-FDS) to accelerate and strengthen the handling of kidnapping cases during an unannounced visit to the center’s headquarters at the Tsaralalàna Central Police Station on Monday evening.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit aimed to evaluate the functioning of the mechanism established about twenty days ago, while providing support to the mobilized teams. The head of government emphasized the need to improve the speed and effectiveness of interventions in processing reports of disappearances and kidnapping cases.
A few hours earlier, several government members involved in the fight against kidnappings also visited the operational center. The Minister of Armed Forces, General Ely Razafitombo Maminirina, the Minister of Public Security, Inspector General of Police Erick Michel, and the Minister of Justice, Fanirisoa Ernaivo, instructed the teams to mobilize all available resources, particularly public surveillance cameras, to locate missing persons and identify the perpetrators of the kidnappings.
Recently established, the Anti-Kidnapping Operational Center is responsible for coordinating the actions of the Defense and Security Forces in kidnapping cases. It centralizes information on cases reported across the country, conducts investigations, collects evidence, and transmits files to the competent judicial authorities.
