AMBOLOKANDRINA – Arrest of suspected perpetrators of the deadly robbery of a foreign national

Seven men have been arrested following the deadly robbery of a foreign national in Ambolokandrina. They are suspected of participating in the attack or receiving stolen goods.

The investigation conducted by the Criminal Brigade (BC) has concluded, and the case was referred to the judiciary last week. The suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention at Tsiafahy and Antanimora prisons.

On the night of Friday, August 28, a foreign national passing through Ambolokandrina was robbed and assaulted. The perpetrators struck him with a nail-studded club, causing fatal head injuries. All his belongings were stolen during the incident.

According to the National Police, the investigation led to the arrest of the first suspect by tracking the victim’s phone, which subsequently helped identify his accomplices and the receivers of the stolen goods. Four additional men were arrested in Marovoalavo Ankadimbahoaka on September 4, where police recovered a pistol, eleven rounds of ammunition, and various tools used for criminal activities.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 28, are believed to be part of a criminal network operating in the Ambolokandrina, Ambohipo, Mandroseza, and Andohan’Imandroseza sectors, and are also linked to armed robberies and motorcycle thefts.
