The winners of the national Paralympic sports championships will defend the national colors at the Indian Ocean Handisport Champions Club Cup (CCCHOI). The Malagasy capital will host the regional summit in two months, from October 27 to November 2. This event will bring together para-athletes from neighboring islands, including Reunion, Mauritius, the Comoros, and the host nation, Madagascar.
The Madagascar championships took place this weekend on the outdoor courts of the Barea Mahamasina stadium. The Atsimo-Andrefana team confirmed its supremacy in wheelchair basketball by narrowly winning 33-32 against the Matsiatra-Ambony team in the final on Saturday.
The national competition saw the participation of fourteen leagues out of the fifteen affiliated with the Madagascar Paralympic Committee (MPC). Absent from the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, “We aim to field athletes for the next Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028,” mentioned the president of the national body, Mahasolo Morel Tsivoa. To obtain a wild card, Madagascar must participate in several qualifying competitions.
