AMORONAKONA – Former SIM President dies in a motorcycle accident

The Malagasy economic and business community is in mourning following the death of Hery Ranaivosoa, who died on Thursday, October 1st, in a motorcycle accident in Amoronakona.

Hery Ranaivosoa, former president of the Syndicate of Industries of Madagascar (SIM) and head of Madprint and the Revue de l’Océan Indien (ROI), passed away this Thursday, October 1st, in Amoronakona following a motorcycle accident. He had also chaired the board of directors of the National Social Security Fund (CNaPS).

According to initial reports, Hery Ranaivosoa was riding his motorcycle when a collision with a car occurred. He was reportedly thrown off balance by the impact and fell before being struck by the vehicle. His death was confirmed at the scene.

The news first circulated on social media through a call to identify a man found dead on the road and to notify his relatives. The victim’s identity was later confirmed as Hery Ranaivosoa. The son of Georges Ranaivosoa, founder of Madprint and the Revue de l’Océan Indien, he had taken over the family business. He managed the printing house and served as the publication director of the ROI.

Launched in 1990, this monthly magazine was notable for its four-color printing, an innovation in the Malagasy press at the time.

Hery Ranaivosoa also participated in the launch of Expansion Madagascar, a magazine created by the SIM in 2010 to promote Malagasy industry. He served as president of the union from 2007 to April 2011. Under his leadership, the SIM launched the campaign “Manjifa ny vita gasy aho, tombony ho an’ny rehetra” (I consume Malagasy-made products, a benefit for all) to encourage the consumption of goods manufactured in Madagascar.

Through Madprint, the ROI, the SIM, Expansion Madagascar, and more recently the CNaPS, Hery Ranaivosoa held a significant place in the Malagasy industrial, business, and editorial landscape for several decades.
