Abdulah Marson Moustapha pays tribute to Maître Kira

The passing of Maître Kira has stirred deep emotion within the Malagasy football community. Abdulah Marson Moustapha, former Minister of Youth and Sports, paid tribute to him, reflecting on the journey and personality of a man he considers a landmark figure in national football.

The former minister recalled the shared passion for football between Maître Kira and his father. Notably, both traveled to Egypt for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a significant milestone for Malagasy football.

“You are leaving us to join Dad in that other world where, I hope, you have reunited. Two men united by blood, by history, but also by this common and unalterable passion for Malagasy football, which accompanied a large part of your lives,” the former minister wrote.

Abdulah Marson Moustapha described Maître Kira as a smiling, warm, and optimistic man, even during difficult times. He recalled his visits to the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Place de la Goulette and the pride he displayed during their exchanges.

“Nahoda, I will keep the image of you as a man who was always smiling, warm, and deeply optimistic, even when life’s trials were at their heaviest. Your smile never hid your strength of character or the dignity that defined you,” testified Abdulah Marson Moustapha.

Beyond football, this tribute also evokes a family history and shared roots between Mahajanga and Toliara.
