The man suspected of killing a couple of entrepreneurs in Amboaroy, in the commune of Antehiroka, has been placed in pre-trial detention after appearing before the court. The investigation is ongoing.
The couple, consisting of a French national and his Malagasy wife, had been killed with a bladed weapon several days earlier. Suspicion fell on a man who used to come to buy used items and equipment at the victims’ home.
A black bag containing clothes, as well as an identity card and a driver’s license in his name, had been found in the house. A wanted notice was then issued. Informed of his presence in Toamasina, investigators intensified their search there. The suspect was finally arrested by the police while he was playing football.
The Toamasina police then notified the gendarmes in charge of the case. The man was transferred to Antehiroka for further investigation before being presented to the justice system.
