Benefits provided by the National Social Security Fund (CNaPS) have been revised upwards. This decision follows the increase in the minimum hiring wage (SME), which rose from 262,680 ariary to 300,000 ariary. This revision specifically concerns family allowances, maternity benefits, retirement pensions, and work accident annuities. Beneficiaries will also receive retroactive payments covering previous months.
According to information from CNaPS, 280,000 children receiving family allowances, 97,000 pensioners, and 4,300 periodic annuity recipients are affected by this increase. Additionally, there are non-periodic affiliates whose numbers fluctuate based on demand. Family allowances will increase from 10,000 ariary to 11,000 ariary per child. Beneficiaries will receive this new amount starting next month, along with a five-month retroactive payment covering the period from March to July, totaling an additional 5,000 ariary per child.
Maternity benefits are also seeing an increase. The prenatal allowance rises from 90,000 ariary to 99,000 ariary, while the maternity allowance will increase by 12,000 ariary, from 120,000 to 132,000 ariary. Reimbursement for childbirth expenses now reaches up to 120,000 ariary, compared to 106,000 ariary previously. According to the fund’s statement, members and beneficiaries who have submitted related requests since March should visit their nearest CNaPS office to complete the necessary formalities for receiving the retroactive payments.
The revision also applies to retirement pensions and work accident annuities. For beneficiaries whose payment is scheduled for July, the revalued pension will be paid in October, accompanied by a retroactive payment for April, May, June, and July. August payments will include the new amount plus retroactive payments for April and May, while September payments will include a retroactive payment covering April, May, and June.
