The High Constitutional Court (HCC) rejected the bill relating to the safe and secure use of nuclear technology in Madagascar in a decision rendered last Wednesday. The court considers that certain provisions of the text, adopted by the deputies on September 24, are contrary to the Constitution.
In force for about thirty years, the legislation governing this technology needed to be revised to expand its areas of application. The reform aimed in particular to allow its use in research, medicine, mining, and agriculture, in accordance with the standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
