A final clash for a continental ticket. After tough trials, two clubs that have played in the Pure Play Football League over the last two seasons have secured their spots in the final of the YAS Madagascar Cup. FC Rouge eliminated Cosfa 3-1 yesterday afternoon at By-Pass.
The military team (Cosfa) imposed their game early on, while the Reds (FC Rouge) focused on defense and capitalized on rare counter-attacks. Goalkeeper Dannic saved a free-kick from Cosfa striker Toky in the 29th minute. Shortly after, Ismaël opened the scoring with a header from a Pito corner. Despite pressure from the military team, the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Cosfa continued to press after the break. Toky’s strike was saved by Dannic in the 52nd minute. The match remained high-paced. The Yellows (Cosfa) managed to equalize through a header by Toky in the 66th minute. However, FC Rouge responded with a powerful long-range shot from Rina in the 72nd minute. Tojo Kely sealed the victory with a header in the 90th minute, ending the match 3-1.
In the first semi-final, AS Sainte-Anne defeated Wagner FC 4-3 in extra time. The Bongatsara team started strong with two early goals, but the Androy team showed resilience, equalizing 2-2 by halftime with a goal from Marco. Sainte-Anne regained the lead through Daurlin in the 65th minute, but Pascal equalized for Wagner FC in the 88th minute. Finally, Babangy scored the winning goal for AS Sainte-Anne in the final minute of extra time. The final between AS Sainte-Anne and FC Rouge will take place this Saturday at the Elgeco Plus Stadium.
