According to those interviewed, more than a thousand people work in sectors linked to the terminal, and many families depend directly on the daily income generated there. “Many of us do not have diplomas to find other work. Several families live off this activity. So, where will we go and what will we live on?” emphasized merchants met at Fasan’ny Karana this Monday.
The transfer does not only concern workers; travelers also have their say. Some are calling for the terminal to remain at Fasan’ny Karana, while others are awaiting the move to Amoronakona and preparing to use the new site.
For its part, the Ministry of Transport maintains its decision. The department is continuing with the arrangements already announced to ensure the transfer to Amoronakona. Ten private shuttle lines have been set up to facilitate travel to the new site. The ministry has also announced sanctions against those who refuse to move and continue operating at Fasan’ny Karana.
For the stakeholders at Fasan’ny Karana, the issue remains their professional future. They insist on staying, highlighting the activities and families that depend on the terminal. Meanwhile, the ministry is proceeding with the preparation of the new site. For now, neither side seems willing to yield, leaving the terminal at the heart of a standoff.
