The closing of the STK congress in Nosy Be was marked on Sunday morning by a large procession through the city, starting from Ambatoloaka to reach the Dar-es-Salam stadium.
The President of the Refoundation of the Republic, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, and his wife honored the closing of the major FJKM youth gathering in Nosy Be with their presence.
The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Mamitiana Jeannot Ruffin Rajaonarison, also a member of the FJKM STK, accompanied him alongside several political figures. Local authorities of Nosy Be were also present.
The President of the Republic reaffirmed his support for initiatives in favor of the youth and addressed a message to the thousands of young Christians of the FJKM. “You are the future of families and homes, of the Church and the nation. The country needs young people full of wisdom and, above all, filled with love. Carrying our cross does not mean carrying Christ’s, but consenting to the efforts necessary to eradicate the evils familiar to us. I make no exception in the fight against corruption. If you are corrupt, stay away,” the Colonel declared.
Faced with the difficulties encountered by participants during maritime transport, the President granted a contribution of 10 million ariary for the passage of vehicles to the port of Ankify. The Nosy Be organizing committee also received aid of 10 million ariary, as well as an envelope of 20 million ariary intended for the realization of STK youth projects.
On August 26, a special meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prefect of Nosy Be, in the presence of representatives of the APMF and shipowners, to organize passenger and vehicle traffic between Nosy Be and Ankify, as well as the return of the youth starting Saturday. According to the regional director of the APMF in Nosy Be, only large vessels equipped for night navigation are authorized to make the crossing after 5 p.m. Each boat can only make three round trips per day. Safety measures must be strictly respected, particularly regarding the weight of the vessels, the number of passengers, and the management of fatigue for pilots and crew members.
