Mage 4 intends to give a new dimension to its songs. On November 8, starting at 3 p.m., the group will meet its audience at the Palais des Sports Mahamasina for a four-hour show blending music and theater. Supported by Orange Madagascar, the event will bring to life the stories told in their love songs through characters and theatrical scenes performed live.
The uniqueness of this show lies in the staging of the lyrics, which will serve as a common thread for a story played on stage. Tracks such as “Ho Tia anao Foana,” “Miova ny Fitia,” and “Taratasy Farany” will be integrated into this narrative, tracing the different stages of a romantic relationship. The goal is to allow the audience to relive the emotions associated with these pieces while discovering another way to interpret them.
The repertoire is expected to include more than 40 songs, with nearly 45 tracks considered depending on the flow of the show. The pieces that contributed to Mage 4’s popularity will be performed, including those written by Élysé. The group also plans to highlight its younger members to promote the talent destined to take over. Valahara will perform the opening act of the show.
Born from a shared passion for music, Mage 4 finds its origins in the 1990s. Its members began playing and singing in their youth. After initial thoughts on creating a group in 1995-1996, they solidified their project in 1997 with studio recording trials in Antananarivo. Formed in Toliara following their parents’ professional reassignments, the group had to return to the capital for their studies at Ankatso.
Over the years, the group has built its identity around songs that tell of human relationships, romantic feelings, and life experiences. It has also explored religious and educational themes, notably to encourage the country’s children to go to school. For Élysé, creation often relies on lived stories, personal experiences, or tales from friends, which are then transformed into songs carrying emotions and sometimes life lessons.
