QUARTER-FINALS – Heavyweights set to fall

The quarter-finals of the Madagascar N1A championship promise to be explosive today at the Palais des Sports in Mahamasina. Between revenge matches and duels between title contenders, several heavyweights will have to fight hard to reach the final four or risk an early exit from the competition.

In the women’s category, the GNBC, the reigning Madagascar champion, enters its quarter-final against JCBA as the favorite. Another serious contender, MB2ALL, is also favored on paper against Dunamis, though they must remain wary of an opponent determined to put up a fight. In this type of knockout stage, every detail can make the difference.

JEA Vakinankaratra appears to have an advantage in its match against ASSM Analamanga, as the latter is missing one of its key players, Elinah Rafarasoa, who remains injured. Finally, BC Somava takes on the role of favorite against Ankaratra Vakinankaratra, aiming to secure its ticket to the semi-finals.

In the men’s category, there is much more uncertainty. Jeannot Ravonimbola, coach of RBC Boeny, perfectly summarizes the mindset before this decisive phase: ‘Anyone can beat anyone, and surprises will emerge during this final phase.’ His team will face the military side, Cosfa, in a highly unpredictable quarter-final. The duel between BC Somava and GNBC is also one to watch, serving as a revenge match for the Sava team, who were heavily defeated by GNBC 83-53 on September 30.

The match between BCB Boeny and MBC Atsinanana also promises to be spectacular. MBC Atsinanana, considered one of the favorites, must be cautious against a Boeny side capable of causing serious problems. The highlight of these quarter-finals will undoubtedly be the 5:15 PM clash between the reigning champion, Cospn, and Ascut, the most titled club at the national level. Having lost 48-75 to Cospn on September 25, Ascut has an ideal opportunity for revenge. One thing is certain: one of these two major clubs will leave the competition at the quarter-final stage, adding even more spice to a final phase where surprises could be numerous.
