According to the Presidency, these mother seeds represent the first link in the seed production chain. They allow for the production of successive generations of seeds while maintaining the genetic characteristics of the original variety. Their multiplication aims to ensure a significant production of quality seeds without compromising their potential.
“It is this type of seed that has contributed to the improvement of productivity and the quality of rice production in Egypt,” the Presidency of the Refoundation emphasized in its statement. The land of the Pharaohs is currently among the top three rice producers in Africa and exports a portion of its production.
In his speech during his reception at the Al Alamein Presidential Palace, the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, indicated that the Egyptian experience in agriculture and water management serves as a source of inspiration for Madagascar. Samples of the improved mother seeds were presented to him as a gift during his official visit to Egypt.
