The construction work has officially concluded. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official handover of the link road connecting Ambohimahitsy to Ambatobe is taking place this Friday afternoon. The ceremony is scheduled to occur just before the groundbreaking event for the flyover construction in Anosizato. Spanning 2.468 km, this infrastructure is designed to facilitate travel between Ambatobe, Soamanandrariny, Ambohimahitsy, and Ilafy, while providing better access to the Rocade and the capital’s bridges.
Funded by the Road Fund at a cost of approximately 7 billion ariary, the project involved the widening and rehabilitation of the road connecting Ambatobe to Soamanandrariny via Ambohimahitsy, the development of the Ambatobe intersection, and the construction of the Ambohimahitsy link road. According to the Ministry of Public Works, this new connection is expected to serve as an alternative route to ease traffic congestion in this part of the capital, thereby reducing travel times for commuters.
In addition to road surface rehabilitation, the project includes the construction of several drainage and protection structures, such as culverts, gutters, concrete slabs, retaining walls, gabions, riprap, and rainwater drainage systems to ensure the road’s durability against inclement weather.
