On the occasion of the Throne Day, Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Madagascar in its development priorities through strengthened cooperation across several sectors.
During the celebration held in Androhibe, the Kingdom of Morocco reiterated its dedication to assisting Madagascar. The reception at the Moroccan residence brought together members of the Malagasy government, diplomatic representatives, and various dignitaries, highlighting the strengthening ties between the two nations.
Beyond the protocol, the discussions underscored concrete progress in the Moroccan-Malagasy partnership. The visit of Alice N’Diaye, Malagasy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Morocco in the spring of 2026 resulted in a historic joint statement, marking a new phase of bilateral cooperation.
The initial results are already visible. Mohamed Benjilany, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Madagascar, announced during his speech that the quota of university scholarships for Malagasy students has increased from 70 to 100 this year. Other projects are currently being finalized and are expected to launch soon, with a strong focus on social sectors, including support for children and collaboration with associations for people with disabilities.
The Ambassador emphasized that Morocco remains committed to this win-win partnership during Madagascar’s period of national renewal. This relationship is deeply rooted in history, dating back to Madagascar’s support for Morocco’s independence struggle under the reign of the late King Mohammed V. The year 2026 also marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Moroccan Embassy in Antananarivo, reflecting two decades of diversified cooperation in education, health, and vocational training.
