The celebrations continue across the regions. Following the historic achievement of the Bouka family—Zouzar and his two sons, Raïs and Raj-Alexandre, who became the first Malagasy to plant the national flag on the summit of Mount Everest on May 23—a major four-day sporting, cultural, and entertainment event will be organized by the World Trade Center Antananarivo from August 27 to 30 in Mahajanga, at the tourist village and the seaside.
“The goal is to celebrate this historic feat together with our compatriots and vacationers from all corners of the island. After the festivities at the Analakely City Hall square and this event in Mahajanga, we plan to visit other regions as well,” emphasized Tiana Rajaona, head of communications at Vima NGO.
The program includes various sports tournaments and activities, such as moraingy, savika, beach volleyball, and street soccer involving the twenty-six fokontany of Mahajanga. Fairground-style entertainment, including Zumba, color runs, bajaj races, bumper cars, bouncy castles, and a Ferris wheel, will also highlight the four-day event. Naturally, the organizers will host concerts featuring renowned artists such as Samoëla, Sanih, Tempo Gaigy, Elidiot, Lola, Cais, Madmax, and the group Zay, who will entertain vacationers and residents every evening, alongside DJ sets.
“Raffle tickets priced at 2,000 ariary are already available at all AccèsBanque branches across the island. The draw will take place at the tourist village on Saturday, August 29, at 5:30 PM. The lucky winner will take home 10 million ariary,” stated the organizers and their banking partner.
