After more than 10 years away from the artistic scenes in Antananarivo, nationally and internationally, Nonoh Ramaro marks his return with “Ako,” an exhibition dedicated to Hira Gasy and traditional Antandroy dance. Scheduled from July 31 to August 21, 2026, at the ADMC Craam of the University of Antananarivo, with an opening reception on July 31 at 4 p.m., the exhibition will feature around twenty works.
Through a primarily chromatic approach, the self-taught visual artist invites the public to immerse themselves in the rhythms, movements, and vibrations of local cultures. Born Landry Richard Ramaroniaina, Nonoh Ramaro has been drawing since childhood and has been practicing visual arts for over 30 years. A former dancer and choreographer, he has forged a personal style marked by movement, splashes, and a “controlled randomness,” using techniques such as drawing, watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting. Each creation, designed as a unique piece, offers the public the opportunity to freely interpret the works according to their own sensitivity. The artist also plans other projects throughout the year.
