The final of the 2026 Yas Madagascar Cup took place on Saturday at the Elgeco Plus Stadium. The trophy was claimed by FC Rouge.
This marks their first national title. Two clubs from the Pure Play Football League (PFL), FC Rouge and AS Sainte-Anne, both from Analamanga, faced off in their very first Yas Madagascar Cup final at the Elgeco Plus Stadium in By-Pass. FC Rouge secured a 3-2 victory over AS Sainte-Anne. The Ivandry-based team has thus qualified to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup this September.
Bongatsara’s team dominated the first half, with Daurlin opening the scoring in the 22nd minute. However, Santatra, known as “Leka,” equalized five minutes later (27th). The score was tied at halftime. After the break, the “Rouges” took the lead through a goal by Abraham, alias “Bogosy” (54th).
Although AS Sainte-Anne controlled much of the final half-hour, they failed to capitalize on their chances. FC Rouge exploited a quick counter-attack, with Bogosy scoring his second goal (82nd) to make it 3-1. Despite a late goal from AS Sainte-Anne in the 84th minute, FC Rouge held on to win. Coach Fenosoa Ratolojanahary acknowledged their luck, while AS Sainte-Anne coach Clovis Fesia expressed regret over his team’s lack of clinical finishing.
Abraham was named the tournament’s best player, and Fenosoa Ratolojanahary was named best coach. Tommy Andriamamonjy (US Pro) was the top scorer with eight goals. Michel Ramandimbisoa (“Toldo”) of Elgeco Plus was awarded best goalkeeper. The winning team received a prize of 25 million Ariary, and the club now looks forward to preparing for their upcoming African campaign.
