The Refoundation of the Republic government has launched its support program for youth entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A fund of 200 billion ariary has been announced for this purpose.
Named ‘Fandroso’, the national program was officially launched yesterday during a ceremony held at the Ambohitsorohitra Palace. The stated ambition is to combat unemployment through entrepreneurship.
“Every year, many young people enter the labor market, but there are not enough jobs for them. We must therefore create new entrepreneurs to create new jobs,” explained Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, Head of State, during the launch. The challenge is to transform young people into economic actors by giving them the opportunity to create their own ventures.
The program, endowed with 200 billion ariary, targets both young people and SMEs seeking restructuring and development support. It offers comprehensive assistance, including training, technical guidance, and access to low-interest loans of up to 60 million ariary.
Fandroso features two main categories: ‘Tsiry’ for aspiring entrepreneurs and startups, and ‘Tafita’ for existing small and medium-sized businesses. Applicants must present a solid, viable, and impactful project to qualify.
This initiative follows the previous ‘Fihariana’ program under the Rajoelina administration. While Fihariana had mixed results, Colonel Randrianirina emphasized the importance of equity, inclusivity, and transparency in the selection process for Fandroso to ensure its success in creating sustainable jobs and transforming lives.
