The Association of Cities and Local Authorities of the Indian Ocean (AVCOI) has been holding its annual meeting since yesterday, which continues today. This year, the capital is hosting mayors and elected officials from local authorities across the Indian Ocean.
Discussions are focusing on ways to enable young people in the French-speaking Indian Ocean region to better grasp the challenges related to digital development, artificial intelligence, and climate change. “This year, we are placing greater emphasis on youth-related issues. We hope this initiative will be beneficial for young people,” explained Ambdilwahedou Soumaila, Mayor of Mamoudzou, Mayotte, and co-president of the AVCOI. Youth is thus at the heart of the exchanges and reflections conducted over these two days.
The objective is also to reflect on ways to build more resilient territories, cities, neighborhoods, and municipalities in the face of current challenges.
