IKIANJA AMBOHIMANGAKELY – End of the road for a fraudster

A woman wanted in connection with an investigation into alleged fraud, which also involves her husband, was arrested yesterday morning in Ikianja Ambohimangakely. According to the police, this former director was hiding in a space set up behind a bookcase with a concealed door. A search of the house led to the discovery of a red stamp, license plates, and numerous documents related to vehicles.

The suspect was taken to the Tsaralalàna central police station for further investigation. Her husband and two other individuals had already been arrested in connection with this case. Police stated that both spouses are currently in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The police had been searching for the woman for several days for alleged misappropriation of assets, breach of trust, fraud, and the forgery and use of forged documents. Investigators suspect the couple acted in collusion. The husband was arrested during a previous operation, during which his wife had managed to escape.

Officers from the Tsaralalàna SUT (Technical Support Service) gathered intelligence that allowed them to locate the suspect in Ikianja Ambohimangakely. Armed with a search warrant, they intervened yesterday around 7 a.m. at a house in the area. The inspection of the premises led to the discovery of the hiding place. “The arrest did not present any particular difficulty,” the officers involved in the operation stated. According to them, the woman claimed the house was hers. No vehicles were found on-site, but spare parts and documents were recovered. “The investigation is ongoing. A new complaint has been registered, bringing the total to nine. The owner of the vehicle she used to flee recently has also filed a complaint,” the investigators added.
