5×5 Basketball: Jap Mada, NBE, and AST Advance with Authority

The knockout phase of the U18 national basketball championship for boys and girls in Toliara has kicked off with intensity. Among the standout performances in the boys’ round of 16, Jap Mada from Alaotra-Mangoro distinguished itself against USJFM from Atsimo Andrefana. The Alaotra-Mangoro team secured an 80-65 victory, showcasing their offensive prowess to advance to the quarterfinals.

NBE Analamanga also made a strong impression, defeating Pintade from Amoron’i Mania with a comfortable 71-51 margin. By maintaining a disciplined game and consistent scoring, NBE took control early and held their lead until the final whistle, boosting their confidence for the next round.

Meanwhile, AST Analamanga achieved one of the most decisive victories of the round, dominating JBM from Menabe 77-34, a 43-point gap. This performance highlighted the team’s mastery on both ends of the court, led by young Ankoay player Khenyo Raherivolaniaina, who participated in the U18 Afrobasket in Abidjan last August.

Other matches also determined the first quarterfinalists: FBCS (Sava) defeated ASVS (Ihorombe) 88-61; Fandrasa (Haute Matsiatra) beat BCTM (Atsimo Andrefana) 75-55; Play4 Mada (Atsimo Andrefana) overcame EBF (Haute Matsiatra) 57-40; and SBC (Vakinakaratra) eliminated AS Monfort (Amoron’i Mania) 55-41. The final match between ASE and AKBB was still ongoing at the time of reporting.
